Mucocele

Biopsy examination of tissue:

This is a case of a mucoccele which occured on the lower lip of a young man.

A muccocele is a tissue swelling composed of pooled mucus that escaped into connective tissue from a severed excretory duct. The mucosal surface of the lower lip is the favoured site, followed by the buccal mucosa, the floor of the mouth, ventral tongue, and palate.
