Description: There are two types of diaries: solicited and unsolicited. Solicited diaries are requested by a researcher, usually with a specific focus (i.e. health diary, food diary, daily activity log). A medical and personal Diary can help provide valuable information for physicians and prevent medical errors in treatment and diagnosis. Unsolicited diaries are spontaneous, written with no incentive or purpose, without intention for someone to read and analyze it.

Scoring/Interpretation: Can be analyzed using coding or framework analysis. Framework analysis is seen as an appropriate qualitative tool for the analysis of unsolicited diaries
