Mid-Term Examination
Closed Book Examination                                                                          Ninety Minutes

Instructions This examination is in two (2) parts.  Students will answer two (2) questions from Part A and one (1) question from Part B.  Read each question carefully before deciding which ones to answer.  As much as possible avoid repeating material in more than one answer.  Credit will not be given for duplicate analysis.  Please try to write as legibly as possible.

Part A  (33.3%) - Recommended Time Allotment:  Thirty Minutes
Identify and briefly explain the historical significance of two (2) of the following:  

1. Five Year Plans 4. Ernst Röhm 7.  Sergei Kirov
2. Franz von Papen 5. Heinrich Brüning 8.  Fransisco Franco
3. Concordat 6. Article 48 9.  Pierre Laval

 

 

Part B  (66.7%) - Recommended Time Allotment:  One Hour
Answer one (1) questions.  

10.“Adolf Hitler’s take-over of Germany was in no way revolutionary. It was entirely within the existing constitution and it had the full support of the German establishment.” Discuss.
11.Why should we study the Holocaust?
12. “The pre-World War Two policy of appeasement was the right one. It was just bad luck that caused it to fail.” Discuss.
13. Write an essay on World War Two from the Soviet perspective.
