LAB
# 1: KIN 2241B Biomechanics Winter
2013
DUE:
give completed LAB assignment to either Peter Wegscheider
or Ashley Hannon in any 2241B class prior to but no later than the class
on Wednesday 23-Jan-2013. This is the only method of submitting your completed lab
assignment. Late submission will not be accepted and a zero will be assigned.
FORMAT:
1. Lab assignment must be typed on a standard sheet of paper (8.5"
x 11") using type font size of 10. The report must not exceed two pages
and if you require two pages to complete the assignment, it must be printed on one page double-sided (use a duplex mode
printer or photocopier to get a one-page report).
2.
Use a table as per the below example for your report
ASSIGNMENT: see text Chapter 11 pages 370-374
for some assistance re motions & sequence
1. Analyze Place
Kicking in Football to achieve high foot velocity at ball impact
2.
Use the athlete in the video from the link listed below. Using continual mouse
clicks on the play/pause button might aid you in analyzing the movements of the
limbs and trunk. Note: mute volume to avoid distraction when
playing video

3.
Separate the skill into 3 phases:
A. PREPARATION:
> begin
with the approach to the ball first with ipsilateral (kicking)
leg, then contralateral leg
B. EXECUTION
>
from planting of contralateral foot & forward movement of ipsilateral leg to foot contacting ball
C.
FOLLOW-THROUGH/RECOVERY
> from foot impact with ball until ipsilateral foot comes back down and touches the ground
4. For each of the 3 above phases:
A. List the sequence of
body motions
(if more than one motion
occurs simultaneously, list those motions in the same sequence)
B. Name every
articulation and corresponding action
(e.g. shoulder abduction)
involved in each sequence (could be more than 1 action in 1 sequence)
C. Name the axis of
rotation and the corresponding plane of movement for each motion
