COURSEDESCRIPTION:

An introduction in a qualitative as opposed to quantitative manner to the mechanical aspects important to human movement in sport, exercise, dance, and the workplace. An emphasis on the development of qualitative analytical skills using video technology.

 

COURSE FORMAT: Three 1-hour lectures per week plus one 3-hour lab every second week

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

 

1. To develop an understanding of the fundamental mechanical concepts affecting human movement in sport, exercise, dance, and the workplace.

 

2. To develop an understanding of forces and their effect on human movement.

 

3. To develop an ability to analyze in a qualitative manner the biomechanical aspects of skilled movement in selected human activities.
