  • Mar 9, 2005
    - There is a new schedule for the tutors:
         * Mon, 2-3pm, Room 117, 3-4pm, Room 283, 4-5pm, Room 203 (UC)
         * Tues, 4-5pm, Room 203
         * Wed, 2-3pm, Room 203
         * Fri, 10-12pm, 1-3pm Room 203
     It is very important to benefit from the availability of the tutors.
    - Assignment #10 has been posted.
     

  • Mar 6, 2005
    - The final exam has been scheduled to be on April 28, 2005, 7pm - TC303.
    - Assignment #9 has been posted.
    - For those in need of assistance and cannot make it during my office hours (Mon/Wed, 12:30-2pm), I can also be available after class to provide help and answer any questions.
     

  • Feb 11, 2005
    - There is a quiz on Wednesday, Feb 16, that will cover lesson 27.
    - Students are encouraged to seek help from the tutors. They are available on the following times:
          * Mon, Tue 4-5pm, Room 203
          * Friday, 10-12pm and 1-3pm, Room 203
    - Assignment #8 has been posted.
    - The dictation for the next class (on Monday) will be on the first paragraph p.523.
     

  • Feb 6, 2005
    -
    Presentation on research paper will start next week. Students are advised to prepare in advance. For lesson 27, there will be a dictation, the first paragraph, page 512, on Wednesday Feb 9.
    - An assignment #7 has been posted.
     

  • Jan 7, 2005
    -
    On Monday Jan 10, there will be a dictation about Mohammad Abdo of the first paragraph p. 459
    - The Arab literary figures I wrote on the board regarding the research paper are not inclusive. You may choose any figure you wish.
    - The quiz for lesson 23 will be on Wednesday, Jan 12.
    - An assignment has been posted on the assignments page.
     

  • Dec. 8, 2004
    - End-of-term exam will be held in TC 304 on Saturday, Dec. 11, 7:00pm.
    - Tutors are available for those who need extra help.
     

  • Dec. 4, 2004
    - There will be a thorough review this coming Monday for all the lessons covered so far.
    - You are responsible to study Lessons 18-22. As mentioned in the course outline, the material depends on what you have taken in Arabic 002.
    - Students are encouraged to communicate with the tutors for extra help.
     

  • Nov 16, 2004
    - A tutor is now available for those who need extra help. The student is available in the following days/times and rooms:
    Tue. 3-4pm (287), Tue. 4-5 (203), Wed. 1-3 (203), Fri. 10-12 (203), Fri. 1-3 (203).
    I encourage students to seek help from the tutor.
    - A guest speaker will attend Wednesday's class. He is fluent in Arabic and English and has a rich cultural background about both languages.
    - Presentations for research papers will start on Wednesday.
    - Wednesdays' quiz will be given at the end of the class.

  • Oct 31, 2004
    - Research paper is due on Monday Nov. 8, 2004. An outline of your research paper and a list of group members for each group should be handed in on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004.
    - Assignment #5 has been posted.

    Quiz #4 will be divided into two quizzes due to its length. The first one will be on Oct. 27, 2004. The second will be on Nov 3, 2004.

    End of Term exam will be on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 7:00pm. Location will be announced later.
    - Five line composition was very well written. Another assignment has been posted.

    All the questions that were assigned are now on the "Assignments" page. A writing assignment has also been posted.
    - There's no class on Monday, Oct. 11, 2004 due to Thanksgiving Holiday.

    This is a reminder that Group 1 presentation for the research paper is on Nov. 10. It is advised that preparation for it start soon. Students should decide their groups as soon as possible. Students can also work on it individually if they prefer to do so. Groups will be formed in class.
    -
    There were some minor corrections in the course outline.
    - For those who are interested in typing in Arabic on their computer. I have created a new page for detailed instructions.
     

  • Sept. 27, 2004
    -
    There will be an oral discussion after each class. I need to see you individually in my office. Details will be announced in class.
    - I need to know the names of the students who decided to be together for discussing the research paper.
    - An assignment has been added as a fun exercise. It does not need to be handed in.

    The textbook is now available in the bookstore, so you may now purchase it. See the course outline for details about the textbook.

    The first day of class is on Sept. 13, 2004 in UC207. See you there!
