Neat Pages
Character Display ProblemsAll of the pages on this web site have been checked out on Internet Explorer and Netscape versions 5.0 and higher. There are a few incompatabilites between the various browser types, but they should not affect your ability either to navigate the site or to read the material. Depending upon the browser you use, font sizes, typeface and colours may differ. Still, if you are using a either an Internet Explorer or a Netscape version below 5.0 you should think about upgrading. Not only do newer browsers have more extensive features, they are also offer greater security over the internet. At the very least, you should make sure that you have downloaded all of the security upgrades for your browser version. Some pages in this site make extensive use of mathematical symbols and Greek characters. In order to display these characters, it is necessary that your browser is Unicode enabled. Internet Explorer appears to have little difficulty in this matter; Netscape Navigator occasionally needs to be reconfigured to accept Unicode characters. Setting Netscape is generally not difficult. First, click on View, then Characterset, then select Unicode (UTF8). Now, click on Set Default Character Set. If these instructions do not solve your problem, determine the version of Netscape you are using (click on Help > About on your browser's tool bar or check below), then check out Alan Wood's website for more details.
