    The purpose of this essay is to show that you've understood some central elements of Kaluli life as it is analyzed and presented by Schieffelin.

    Pick a central theme (or themes) of  The Sorrow of the Lonely... and explain how it is developed by Schieffelin and how it is lived by the Kaluli. What does your chosen focus have to do with other aspects of Kaluli life? What sorts of evidence does Schieffelin provide to convince you that this is critical (or useful) in understanding Kaluli?

    Some of the more obvious themes you might want to deal with include: opposition scenario, reciprocity, gisaro, marriage and in-laws, unseen world, witches: and there are many more that would work to focus this essay
