Aims of the course: To introduce students with a non-science background to the relationship between humans and their geologic environment, with emphasis on geologic hazards, natural resources, waste management, and global change.
Background Required: This course is intended for (but not limited to) students registered in faculties other than Science.
Prerequisites: none


Lectures for 081B: Tues. & Thurs. 10:30-11:30 AM in WSC Rm. 55.
Laboratory Exercises: 4 sections - Tues. 2:30-4:30, Wed. 10:30-12:30, Wed. 12:30-2:30, Thurs. 2:30-4:30, all will be held in B&G Rm. 118.

Grading Scheme
Lecture Exams: 56 %    Mid-term (20%), Final exam (36%).
Labs: 44 %    Labs (8%), Lab quizes (8%), Final exam (28%)
Exam formats: combination of multiple choice, fill-in words, & short answer questions.
Note: the lab part of the course MUST BE PASSED to get credit for ES081A
