Regional Geology
The Woodburn Lake Group - Ca 2710 Ma
Characterized by an assemblage of komatiitic and pelitic schists, iron formation, intermediate volcanoclastics and wackes, felsic to mafic volcanic rocks, & orthoquartzites
Metamorphic grade – greenschist to amphibolite facies
Ductile deformation (D1-D4) occurred after the porphyry intrusion – Ca 2620 Ma
Regional schistosity trending ENE to NE defined by NW verging schistosity and isoclinal F1 and F2 folds
D3 structures comprise mesoscopic, open to tight chevron style folds verging SE and plunging sub-horizontally. Axial surfaces dip shallowly to NNW.
D4 folds comprise open to tight, NE trending, upright folds
