Getting to Paris with your bicycle
We have always travelled from Toronto to Europe by AirTransat Charter. Summer prices are reasonable (cabin class is an extra $150), and they also provide access to accomodation in Paris (your travel agent will provide your with a brochure; nobody wants to miss out on a couple of days in Paris!!) More important, AirTransat will transport your bicycle as baggage for only the cost of the plastic bag in which they emball your bicycle. In Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, disembarkation is at Terminal 9, which is within a short walking distance (100 meters) of either the RER station or the bus station - you are allowed to use a baggage cart to transport your baggage between the two locations. If you keep you bicycle in the plastic bag you should be able to take it with you on the RER ( cost 46FF)or bus. For the available options travelling into Paris, check:

There is a ‘Roissy bus’ that leaves every 15 minutes from Gate A, Terminal 9, and goes to the Opera Garnier (American Express Office) in the centre of Paris (cost 40FF). An Air France bus also leaves every 15-20 minutes from aerogare 2 (Gate 6) during the hours of 5h40 - 23h and deposits passengers at Porte Maillot, and Etoile/Place Charles de Gaulle. For this option, from Terminal 9 you will need to take an “Aeroport de Paris” shuttle bus (free) to aerogare 2. Travel time of about 25 minutes if traffic is clear; an hour or more during rush hours. Cost around 55F. A less frequent bus service travels from outside the RER station to the Nation on the east side of the centre of Paris. Another alternative is to cycle into Paris (c. 20 km; from the airport get on the D902 towards Gonesse and then take the N17 in a straight line to the Gare de l’Est), or to take a taxi.
