Course Description

A tumultuous age of trenchant satire, the beginnings of the modern novel, witty comedies of sexual intrigue, an eruption of forms of popular culture, the rise of the woman author, and a growing interest in nature, the imagination, and sensibility.

Antirequisites: English 245E, 246F/G, 247F/G, 248E, 249F/G, and 250F/G.
Prerequisites: At least 60% in English 020E, 022E, 024E or the former 026, and at least 60%
           in all subsequent English courses, or permission of the Department.
Lecture Hours per week: 3 hours.
