| Just before Eve and Harriet arrived Miriam became increasing anxious. The thought of the journey ahead made her question every decision she had made over the past several weeks. As she gazed out the window she noticed how everything outside looked dark and decayed. Her mood was suddenly lifted as she reminded herself of the buds on the trees that would bloom soon and how the patches of lifeless grass would be green again. The idea of leaving before she had a chance to see these changes brought the feelings of uneasiness back again. Suddenly she felt cold and she wrapped her sweater tightly around her body and moved back toward the fire. |
