Second Normal Form
A table is in second normal form if it meets the following criteria: The relation is in first normal form, and, all nonkey attributes are functionally dependent on the entire primary key (no partial dependencies).
- Applies only to tables that have a composite primary key.
- In the following table, both the EmpID and Training (composite primary key) determine Date, whereas, only EmpID (part of the primary key) determines Dept.
