name
|
Saddler, David. ¬ biography
David Sadler originally spelled the family name, Saddler, with
two ds.
At some point during his life he changed the spelling to Sadler.

occupation

teacher and land surveyor

|
born
|
Craigielands, Kirkpatrick-Juxta, Dumfriesshire,
Scotland, 9 July 1804.
According to Ted Sadler's notes, David Sadler's gravestone gives
his birthdate as, "July 9, 1804". That agrees with the
brass rubbing I have from the stone, made by brother, Mark, several
years ago. The microfilmed OPR records give his birthdate as being
four days earlier, i.e. July 5, 1804.

died
|
Dalhousie, New Brunswick, 7
Jun 1885. Aged 80. obituary
buried Dalhousie,
Riverside Cemetery.
According to Ted Sadler's notes, David Sadler's death date was, "June 7, 1885", as recorded from the headstone in the Riverside Cemetery. That year is confirmed by a newspaper account at the time. However, in the brass rubbing
I have from the stone, made by brother, Mark, several years ago,
the death date appears to be one year later, i.e. "June 7,
1886". It looks like the stonecarver may have mistakenly carved a "6" when it should have been "5", i.e. 1886, rather than 1885, the correct year.
Age calculated as (1884 - 1804 = 80), 80 years
