However, there is a record in the International Genealogical Index (Family Search) stating that Elizabeth was born about 1783 in Kirkpatrick Juxta, Dumfries, Scotland, the daughter of John Saddler and Jean Laidlaw. Moreover, there is indirect evidence that Elizabeth was the daughter of John Saddler and Jean Laidlaw. On Elizabeth's death record they are listed as her parents. Elizabeth's name is also carved on the family headstone in the Kirkpatrick Juxta Church burial ground.
