Since the patient was not advised of the danger of driving related
to syncope, she did not stop driving once she was sent home. As
a result the patient was involved in a motor vehicle accident; investigation
revealed that she had “blacked out at the wheel”.
"The Canadian Cardiovascular Society has recommended that
a driver with more than one episode of syncope within a year of
their most recent event should be suspended from driving for three
months if they are a private driver, and one year if they drive
a light truck."
