Recall and Precision

I want to explore the ideas of RECALL and PRECISION this week. Take a look at http://instruct.uwo.ca/gplis/601/week1/review.html. Recall and precision are important concepts used in the evaluation of Information Retrieval systems.

I have used this article as a starting point for drawing up some suggestions for improving our access to the periodical literature.

Important Points taken from Hawkins and Waters (1982) Article

We have seen some of these ideas before but it is always good to have them reinforced. Their list of search suggestions and their list of search strategies are both nice summaries.
