Here’s a common beginner’s problem: in trying to achieve the index finger - little finger - thumb balance, the little finger sits, strut-like, on top of the bowstick. This tends to force the R wrist to rotate inwards, and this will almost certainly send the bow off-course and stiffen the whole R side.

In setting up the bow "grip," (1) remember to adjust the hand position with the bow resting on the string, rather than held in the air, because supporting the whole weight of the bow with the "grip" will give a false impression of the physical work and alignments actually required; and (2) don’t encourage the fingers to spread too much further than they do naturally when the arm and hand hang at rest.
