The hand is
making all its contact on the "bottom" side of the bow, and,
while we can’t see it, the thumb must be pressing quite hard against the
main part of the frog, else the bow would slip and fall. The hand is
"too far over" the bow, and much too close to the end of it.
This is fairly easy to remedy. Don’t, at first, do much to the hand,
just rotate the bow, so that main finger-contact is established on the top
of the stick, and the hair goes flat on the string. Then slide the bow to
get the little finger over the middle part of the frog. Then reposition
the thumb for correct (i.e., minimal) support, at the edge of the frog. |
