Study of brain damaged individuals
Lesion technique. The oldest method for relating brain events to perception entails destroying some portion of the nervous system and then measuring associated changes in perceptual function.
Studying humans with ‘natural’ lesions may help tell us what brain areas control certain aspects of perception.
