Nothing definitive is known about William Saddler's ancestry.
According to a 2004 report by professional researcher Duncan Adamson,
commissioned by Ted Sadler of Lockport, New York, the evidence
suggests that a Saddler family - perhaps three brothers and a
sister moved into the Moffat area in or before 1730. (Moffat and
Kirkpatrick Juxta are adjoining parishes. The town of Moffat is
two and half miles northeast of the village of Craigielands).
Mr. Adamson's theory is that since these Saddlers (Robert, John
and Thomas) appear to be the only Saddler family
in the area at the time, that William is descended from them.
