Tables -- using layers

I'd like you to use the buttons provided below to create a sample bio page.  (This is just an exercise, but I want to keep this page for our lesson using templates, which we will do next week. Of course you're free to use it for anything else too.) I'd like you to create a blank page that uses some of the buttons [they are too big to use all, so I'd suggest four] and looks something like this [you can click on it for a (very) large view]:

small shot of sample table

The buttons are provided on the bottom section of this page.  Note that there are some duplicates for rollovers and there are some designed for specific colored backgrounds.

  • You can create the layout using either layers and then converting to tables, or working in tables throughout

Remember, to convert from layers to tables, you go to Modify in the menu and take the following steps:

Modify ..> Convert ..> Layers to Tables

When you get the dialog box, remember that the "simple" option is usually the best, unless you've created a complex table.

I've posted a simple solution here...>

An invisible gif is here in case you need one [I've included the border in html so you can click on it a bit easier.]:

An extra challenge:

if you get the first table done quickly, why not try this one too?  Yes, you will need to use photoshop as well as dreamweaver. [click thumbnail for larger view]  Can you think of another place to add a curve to this page?

Stumped?   I hope not, but just in case a solution for the curves challenge is here...>
