Grading PlanCourse assignments and Grading scheme:
The course is a seminar and students are expected to participate in discussion to make two presentations on topics on which they will write essays in the first and second terms; and to lead a discussion on one of the course readings in each term. In addition to the short essays (12 pages maximum), students will be required to do two article reviews of no more than 3 pages each (one in each term). The grading scheme will be as follows: Class participation 10%; Article presentations 10%; Essay Outlines and Presentations 15%; Short Essays 40%; Article reviews 25%.
Assignment Schedule: First Article Review due: October 16, 2006 First article presentation: One of the following classes (to be selected by the student): September 21, 28, October 5, 12, 19, 26; November 2. First Essay Outline due Oct 30, 2006 First essay presentation: One of the following dates (to be assigned by the instructor): November 9, 16, 23, 30.
