Presentations

There will be two types of presentations in the course - article presentations and essay presentations

Article Presentations

Article presentations comprise 10% of the final grade. Students are to lead a discussion in class on one of the interpretive readings specified in the course readings. Within two weeks of the beginning of each term a list of which students will lead which particular article discussion will be established. The article presentation should be no more than 10 minutes. The student should briefly outline the article's contents, suggest issues it raises and have some discussion questions for the class. The student should also be prepared to answer questions from the class and instructor and to help facilitate discussion of the article.

Essay Presentations

Essay presentations comprise 15% of the final grade. Each student is to lead a discussion on his/her essay. Her/his essay outline will be circulated to the class prior to the discussion. Each essay presentation should be no longer than 15 minutes and each essay discussion will be a maximum 30 minutes. The schedule will be posted one week after receipt of the essay outlines.
