Welcome A web page will provide the framework for this course as well as input from the instructor. Content posted on the web pages will supplement the textbook ( Learning Disabilities : Characteristics, Identification, and Teaching Strategies 3rd Edition by William Bender ) . Communication will be facilitated through Caucus. The conference (in Caucus) will be used by teams to propose theories and by classmates to support, question and, challenge our thinking. It will be the venue for responding to reading assignments, group presentations and discussion. The Learning Disabilities elective consists of three modules. Each module is divided into strands (Module 1 Strand A1, A2....). This course requires commitment, self-direction, and personal integrity to ensure self-satisfaction and success. A twenty hour (minimum) commitment is required for readings, on line discussions, and assignments for each module. Critical to the work of any special educator is the knowledge and competencies necessary to consult and collaborate with students, parents, administrators and professionals within and outside of the teaching profession who also support students with learning and other disabilities. The assignments in this course will require you to refine those skills. Im looking forward to working with you in cyberspace. Well be using the same format, modules and strands, and email procedures. Read e-mail instructions carefully before submitting any responses.
