Make a mini-site
- In Dreamweaver, create a folder for your mini-site.
- Feel free to base this on one of the previous layouts we have done that have a logo and a persistent navigation.
- Create a file structure based on your persistent nav (and don't forget the index page for the home page)
- Link the persistent nav to the blank files.
- Save As..Template
- Create the editable region
- Apply the template to all the files in your new folder.
- Change the header and title on each page to correspond to the page name, ie., on the aboutus.htm, the header and title should say "about us".
- Call the index.htm page the home page.
- Link to this page from your own page, and publish
NB: to get all the points on this exercise, it must be possible for me to click on the persistent nav and go to the html pages with titles and headers that match the menu label.
Applying a Template
The fastest way to apply a template to a blank page:
- Open the file you want to alter.
- Go to Tools ..> Templates ..> Apply Template to Page. [screen shot here]
