Patient Presentation
- A 72 year old woman has been referred to your care from emergency.
- The
emergency record depicts that she has collapsed due to the
loss of consciousness.
- There is evidence of facial trauma.
- Her EKG
results appear normal.
The following questions are asked to ascertain additional patient
history:
- Did anyone witness the event?
- This is an important question to ask as patient history is crucial
in understanding the mechanism of syncope.
- In this
case, the patient’s
loss of consciousness was not witnessed.
