Among the requirements for this course are four short (approx. 5 pages) essays on topics to be announced. The first of these is due during the Fall term (in week 6), and the remaining three during the Winter term (in weeks 14, 21 and 25). The assignment topics will be distributed exactly two weeks before each assignment's due date. At this time, the topics and parameters for each essay will be announced in class, emailed to the phil40 list and posted on this page. (So there's no excuse for someone being confused about either the topic or the due date!)
