Remember
your textbook. In chapter 3, "Speedy Graphics" there are a number of good lessons on creating web graphics:

Reducing colors in GIFS ........... p. 38
Aliasing type .................p. 46
JPEG compression .....................p. 55

Add type

  1. Select the type tool, and click on the upper right hand corner of the image.
  2. Select a font. (Something sans serif).
  3. Select right alignment option in the Type Tool.
  4. Type "Mezzo Piano" in two lines in the text box at the bottom of the dialog.
  5. Select a color. (Teach sampling)
  6. Select a type size – larger.
  7. (Save)

Layer Effects

Personally, I think that this is one of the best things about 5.5 – all kinds of effects in the Layers selection.  The drop shadow is the most useful.

  1. Go to Layer>Effects>Drop Shadow
  2. Change the opacity to 60%> click okay
  3. Bevel and Emboss from (Layer Effects)
  4. Change shadow, blur, bevel in Bevel and Emboss
  5. Double-click the "T" icon
  6. Change the word "piano" to "Forte"
  7. (Save)

Filters

  1. Choose background
  2. Choose Filter>Distort>Wave – set Number of Generators to 3. Max wavelength to 350, min. to 1.
  3. Choose Filter>Brush Strokes>Angled Strokes and click okay for the default settings.
  4. (Save)
